The first son of Chantal, a Neapolitan lady, and Leone, a Milanese gentleman, Lorenzo was born in Milan in 1981. His passion for photography started at age 14 when his aunt Rosalba, a still-life photographer, gave him his first camera. It was actually at high school where he started practicing the art of portrait by shooting countless pictures of his mates. When done with school, Lorenzo decided to turn his passion into a real job and for three years he assisted a range of photographer making his first steps in the fashion industry.
At 22, he had the incredible opportunity to show his portfolio to legendary Vogue Italia editor-in-chief Franca Sozzani, who immediately asked him to shoot supermodel Naomi Campbell for her magazine. Franca Sozzani also pushed Lorenzo to move to New York, where he had the chance to shoot for both a wide range of brands and international publications, including Vogue Italia, L’Uomo Vogue, Vogue Nippon, Esquire US, GQ (Italian, German, Russian and Japanese editions), Glamour (Italy, France and Germany), Town & Country, Tatler U.K., L’Officiel Paris and WWD. At the same time, Lorenzo has also become a firm favorite with celebrities and has lensed stars such as Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Karl Lagerfeld, Christoph Waltz, Mark Wahlberg, Naomi Campbell, Shirin Neshat, Marlene Dumas, Julie Taymor, Rosario Dawson, Stanley Tucci, Freida Pinto, Alan Cumming, Paz De la Huerta, Hugh Dancy, Jonathan Demme, Mena Suvari, Bobby Cannavale, Matthew Modine, Leigh Leizark and Rufus Wainwright, among many others.
In 2010, Lorenzo teamed up with Dolce&Gabbana to realize “Nazionale Italiana. South Africa 2010. Dolce&Gabbana,” a photo book capturing behind-the scene moments of the Italian soccer team’s training sessions and featuring candid portraits of the players posing on white backgrounds. Two years later, he worked at his second book, titled “Italian Portraits” and developed in collaboration with luxury brand Tod’s. The volume includes a gallery of portraits of elegant Italian men who embody the country’s quintessentially sophisticated heritage. Over the last decade, Lorenzo has also photographed global advertising campaigns for high-end brands, including Erés, Pomellato, Hublot, Audi, Dolce&Gabbana, Trussardi, Sergio Rossi, Tanqueray Gin, Oliver People, Brunello Cucinelli, Roberto Cavalli, Bugatti, Bergdorf Goodman, Saks Fifth Avenue and Fay, among others. In addition, Lorenzo has recently increased its production by directing short films and commercials for several clients, including Bugatti and Pomellato.
Lorenzo currently lives between Milan and New York with his wife Evelina and their dog Bruna.
